The Nebraska Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (NHC) began its monthly round of corporate breakfasts at La Hacienda Real restaurant at 425 N 78th St, in order to create connections between different companies.

This is the first of twelve breakfasts that the NHC organizes so that its members can expand their network of connections and expand the community of Latino entrepreneurs and announce their achievements.

At 8:15 A.M. of Friday January 27th Guadalupe Millán, vice president of the organization, welcomed the event and invited everyone to have breakfast. The menu consisted of Mexican-style scrambled eggs with chorizo, scrambled eggs with potatoes, beans, tortilla, and cheese, as well as the respective sauces for a more Hispanic touch.

The warm orange color of the walls combined with the natural light from the window gave a familiar touch that those that were present shared.

Millán briefly introduced what it means to start the year with that breakfast for connection.

On the other hand, Diva Mejías, treasurer of the Chamber, highlighted the significance of having health insurance to protect our grandparents and parents. “There are few of us who are baby boomers and that is why we must take better care of ourselves and think about Long-Term Care,” she said.

She also recalled that from now until April 15 is the deadline to file taxes. She said that married couples must be aware of paying taxes since this is the first requirement that banks ask for when offering a loan.

After Mejías’ intervention, Yesenia Peck, president of the organization, informed that there will be other breakfasts every month and invited business owners to be members of the Chamber in order to increase connections and be a more united community.

The event had the support of Regina Costello and Abril García, both members of the Nebraska Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and Sandra López as a volunteer.

Also in attendance were Day Care (child care) owners, representatives from companies like Goodwill and Lozier, as well as non-profit organizations, lawyers, and other business people.
