Stop by the Nebraska Arts Council to celebrate the opening reception of Bart Vargas in the Fred
Simon Gallery on November 30th from 5-7pm.
The exhibition features works from his Amalgated Pop-Culture Ceramic Sculpture Series, which
examines twenty-first century culture and adds in not-so-subtle humor and tension. Throughout
his work, Vargas seeks to explore the complexities of identity by mixing and matching
recognizable characters not normally associated with each other.

Winter Wonderland: Trail of Lights Opening Celebration

Come visit us at Fontenelle Forest as we celebrate the arrival of winter. We are lighting one of
our trails with thousands of holiday lights for visitors to get a truly awe-inspiring experience this
time of year. Enjoy the Forest after hours to see the holiday lights in their full glow. Hike down
the boardwalk where children can meet Santa in the woods and create a lasting holiday
memory. Enjoy s’mores and cocoa by the fire pits on our plaza, and make Fontenelle Forest
part of your holiday traditions! $5 for Fontenelle Forest members / $15 for non-members (Sales
tax included)

Las Posadas 2018

Las Posadas is a holiday tradition at Christmas time, taking place in December each year.
Posada is Spanish for “lodging”, “accommodation”, or “inn”. The traditional song for “asking for
Posada” refers to the journey of Mary and Joseph traveling from place to place, asking for
lodging. The Posadas today consists of singing the traditional Christmas song and places one
group of singers as the “Inn-keepers” inside a home, and another group of singers as the
“pilgrims” on the outside. The “pilgrims” sing asking for a place at the Inn. The “In-keepers”
respond by singing that there is no place at the Inn. The pilgrims go from house to house
singing, until finally someone invites them in. Las Posadas has origins in Spain, and is now
celebrated primarily in Mexico, Guatemala, and throughout the United States.Join us as we
celebrate “Las Posadas” on Thursday, December 13, at El Museo Latino from 6-8 pm. There will
be activities for children, music and refreshments, as well as the opportunity to participate in a
traditional Posada beginning at 6:30 p.m. The event is FREE and open to the public. For
