On Friday, April 3, El Perico learned it was one of what will be hundreds of local media recipients to receive $5,000 from the Facebook Journalism Project Coronavirus Coverage grant, administered by Local Media Association. The funds will support Karlha Velasquez’s original reporting and translations into Spanish of coverage from The Reader, in particular Chris Bowling’s coverage, and other important community sources.
